The .450-400 Nitro Express 3.25" is a part of the family of Nitro cases with a .405" - .411" calibre, rimmed, bottle-necked cases which were originally intended for single-shot and double-barrel rifles. There are multiple variants of the .450-400 Nitro cartridge as variations existed between each manufacturer for each cartridge length. The lengths of the cartridges ranged from 3.25 inches to 2.625 inches in case length. The .450-400 NE 3.25" loading was intended for hunting African dangerous game. It fired a 400 gr. jacketed bullet at a velocity of 2,150 ft/s.
