U.S. Pattern 1817 musket worm is hand forged steel. Use it in a .47 calibre or larger bore. The extended shaft has an 8-32 or 10-32 male thread.

A jagged tip, called a cleaning jag, is the proper tool for wiping the bore. Use a wet or oily patch. Never use a dry patch. It may become stuck. Made of brass.

Loading and Cleaning Jags
Brass button jags are used on small diameter ramrods and cleaning rods where a tapered shank is not necessary for patch clearance. All These have sturdy in 8x32 or 10x32 steel threads.
