The .505 Gibbs Magnum was designed by George Gibbs in 1911. It is a .505 calibre rimless bottle-necked cartridge intended for magazine rifles. The .505 Gibbs has a case capacity of 178 grains and was originally loaded with a 525 grain projectile which fired at 2,300 ft/s for 6,166 ME.
